I have to say, in the beginning, I couldn’t stand MySpace (Just dated myself) Facebook, Instagram…then came Pinterest, LinkedIn, Snapchat, etc… It drove me nuts and seemed that people weren’t being their true selves, more of who they wanted to be perceived as. Then I realized, that was me too. I didn’t realize the importance of social media in people’s lives, including my own.
This realization was quite a turning point. Like you, there was a person that I wanted to be and there was a choice. We can pretend to be someone or we can step and become that person. If you want to be a leader, then be a leader. If you want to be a social butterfly, then be that person. Just be who you are.
Here’s the other side of social media, the business side. Consider those exact same people above, trying to fit in where they can and give them a business. We tend to blurt out the first thing that comes to mind. It typically sounds like a good idea, at first. People will listen cause they dig me. I have some authority with the people in my life.
You post and nothing happens. Well, sometimes something happens. You get someone calling you crazy and a scammer, that you just trying to take money from people and trying to “save” you. Sigh, that’s okay too. You’re the one with the Vision, not them.
With a slightly different approach, you can cause so much noise that it drowns out the people that may not support you so much.
