Presenting Your Business – Opportunity or Product?
When presenting your business to someone, it’s nature to go with what is more comfortable to us at the time. If you are in a health and wellness program and you hear someone talking about being ill and having aches and pains, you know what direction you would take. If you hear someone talking about money issues, again, you know where to take the conversation.
You need to start looking at your business as a business. That’s what it is, you bought it, you have overhead (thought it isn’t much) and you are attempting to make money. All of this is most likely correct and that makes up a business. When I say treat your business like a business, you have to remember the customer service aspect of all of this. You want repeat customer or long time reps.
You see, we tend to get all caught up in the hype of things, especially if you are a new network marketer. Here are our two most common thoughts, our product is awesome and I’m going to be rich LOL. It’s great stuff. Unfortunately, those two items can keep us from reaching our goals.
Most New Network Marketers, when asked what they are doing, will either send you a link immediately or tell you how awesome their juice berry anti-aging cream is. Though, it’s cool to talk about the product, you need to make sure the person you are talking to is ready to hear about the product.
This is where the rubber meets the road. When talking to a possible team member, there are some things that you will need to know prior to talking about your business. You will be interviewing them without them really knowing about it. Here is the biggest two points I will make in this section…”Listen to Them” and “Be Compassionate” you are just going to jump from one question to the next. Here are a couple of questions that will help you with your business.
Start off pretty easy with something like
“How are things going” that right there will be the basis of the conversation. You can kind of probe from there.
“How’s work going” “How’s married life, going anywhere” “Kids doing okay”
Nowadays, you most likely won’t get a rosy picture of someone’s life so, be mentally prepared for it.
Work = Stinks
Married life = Pretty good, we don’t do much
Kids = They’re fun, lots of work but, fun
What do you do for fun
All of those answers you can work with. You can tell by everyone of those, that life could be better.
You are now a problem solver, your business is the solution to this person’s problems. You can chose which one them is most emphasized. We’ll take marriage for this instance. You can respond with “Oh man, I totally get ya. Marriage can be tons of fun but we need to make it happen and fun time is a MUST. Let me ask you this, if I could show you side project that wouldn’t interfere with what you are doing now, to help you get the means to do more thing together, would that be something that would interest you?” “In fact, my company just came back from an all inclusive vacation that was given away as an incentive for those who excelled”
Your business is a way to get out of the job, have more fun being married, do more things with the kids and have more time to do the things you love. It’s why you got into this Network Marketing Arena, right?
I get it, it’s easier to sell products. But when someone is having issues at work, home or with the kids, the last thing they want to hear about is how awesome a juice, filter, shampoo or even an amazing Govt Mint Coin LOL. Yes, there will be some people that want to your products but today’s day and age, people are suffering and need a way out.
What people really need is More Time to play. More time to live those Dreams. More time to live and do whatever the hell they want to do! You are it, the solution and by not presenting your business… you are committing a social crime. Go out and share your “Business” with someone and off them that way out.
