Network Marketer or Sales Person

Be Who You Are – A Marketer

Sales people these days. They definitely get the raw end of the deal. You walk into a store looking to make a purchase and up comes the sales person. “May I help you?”  Even, if you need help, you tell them no. You’ve never done that wink wink. You think that they are going to try to sell you something that you don’t want. When they are there to help you and make a few bucks to put food on their family’s table. It’s a stigma that a small percentage of sales people have create.

The other day, I was presenting my business to a friend of mine and without taking a look, the response was “I don’t want to sell anything because I’m not a good sales person”  My honest to goodness response “I am not looking for a sales person, I’m looking for someone that can share a vision”.

Like the sales person at the top of the page, we are to show people what we have and let them come up with their own EDUCATED opinions. Our job as network marketers is to help that person answer some simple questions so they feel comfortable enrolling with you in your opportunity. If you have to “Sell” your opportunity then you are doing something wrong and trying way to hard.

Below I am going to outline how this all works without being salesy or pitchy. This goes for the person that is talking to 1 person a day or 20.

First and foremost, you are going to be having a real conversation with the person. It’s easy for someone to pick up when you have an agenda. That being said, t is okay to lead the conversation where you want it to go. You may ask leading questions like “Hows the job going” or “How’s the wife and kids” or “I am thinking about going on vacation again, any suggestions”.  These are all feeler questions that will help you understand where to take the conversation. You are looking for a way to present a solution to what’s up. Most people don’t like their job, work too much and don’t get to see their family enough and/or are in desperate need of a vacation. In comes your solution.

Genuinely sympathize with the person you are talking to and understand the issues at hand. No matter what business you have, it’s the solution to a willing to give upproblem that person might have. A network marketing company can provide some serious financial freedom. Yea, I know that is a cliche statement to make but think of it this way. If you had more money, the issues above would disappear, yes? If you put solid time into your business and take it serious, you can and will make a substantial income. The key word here is “Serious”

The responses are quite simple. “If I could offer you something that might help you with that and wouldn’t interfere with what you are currently doing, would you be willing to take a look at it?” My buddy Ray Higdon coined that phrase. I love it and use it all the time. As their curiosity gets going and they say “Yes”, it is now time to set up an appt. with them. If you tell them your site now or start presenting now, the answer is going to be a resounding “NO!”

Ask this “When’s the next time you will be in front of your computer so I can run this past you”. If they ask what it is, it’s okay to say something like “If it’s okay with you, I would rather wait, because if I misspoke I wouldn’t forgive myself” or you can take the more direct approach “Come on ma, what is this 20 questions” LOL. Whatever floats your boat.

Then you can call back on that appt and put their eyes on a presentation. We are network marketers, people have needs and we can help. You have to know that the business you have can help people. It can provide a way out of the daily doldrums and into the winds of greatness.

Share with people and watch them, as well as you grow.
