A common theme in our day and age is a limit of time. Between commuting to work, taking the kids to school, homework, taking care of the house, being a spouse, parent and oh yea…the whole sleep thing. Let alone trying to be social. Who has the time to do anything else?
Can I be real here for a moment. I was there. Husband, dad, 50+ hrs work week, house, yard, etc…
Understanding The Time Limitations
Most are in that cycle due to the lack of knowing any other option. It’s what life’s supposed to be, right? Unfortunately, that’s the mindset of our parent’s generation as well as ours.
Here’s what I know – If it’s important to us, we’ll make the time.
It comes down to managing our time. If we keep a journal (yes I’m on a journal kick this week)…If we keep a journal of what actually do throughout the day, I feel that you may be surprised at what you find out. We tend to spend a lot of time doing ‘stuff’ that is not serving our bigger life.
Marketers tend to have the same issue. We can fill our day up with non-money producing activities such as, social media surfing, getting ready to get ready and talking with those that aren’t serving the immediate mission. I’m not being rude, remember, the subject of this post is to create time freedom.
Finding The Time
Some areas off the top of my head to gain some time through the day.
Wake up earlier in the day. This may mean, getting to bed earlier. You’re just going to have to trust me on this one. Changing sleep patterns will open up all sorts of avenues. Article For That Here
Driving To and From Work. If we can get 1-3 phone calls in per day in the car, that’s 5-15 calls per week. That’s a big deal, especially in our industry.
Lunch Time. A 45 – 60 minute block of time can add another 1-3 calls per day, writing an article, doing a video, etc…
As you can see, there’s always time to do what’s important to you and sacrifice doesn’t have to be a bad word. This is only for a season of your life with a lifetime of reward.
The choice is yours.
