How To Get Past Fear Of Failure and Rejection

Remove Fear of Failure and Fear of Rejection

Regardless of your thoughts on fear and whether it exists for you, it’s very real for a lot of people. It stops most from making sound decisions about their future greatness. The perception of what fear and rejection represent, is typically letting people down and looking bad. To remove the fear of failure, we must seek the origin.

As we are growing up, we’re put on a sliding scale in school. Typically it’s A through F. If you’re an A student there is praise and celebration, which is rightly deserved. On the opposite side of the spectrum, if you earn an F, there’s typically ridicule from your peers. Most parents, don’t know how to handle this sort of “Bad” grade and it turns into punishment. I remember getting in trouble for getting C’s, D’s and an F, every once in a while.
I fell behind in my school work, through my own fault and had a difficult time keeping up. So far behind, that no matter how hard I “Tried”, I couldn’t catch up. I felt like I was disappointing my parents and felt more and more like a failure.

This experience branded, in my mind that no matter how hard I tried at something that was hard, I would fail and disappoint the people around me.

Obviously, you and I know that this isn’t the case and a made up story in our head.

Before I know all that, it was a very real situation.
It the Video Below, I say something about Fear…That my change the way you look at fear forever.

Do you realize that using Fear of Rejection is actually selfish? Being more concerned about how people see you and look at you, over the possible lifetime impact, is selfish. Think about that for a moment, as I know it’s a hard pill to swallow.
Where would you be today, if someone didn’t put away their pride to ask you to take a look at something?
You can do that for others as well. We must remove ourselves from the equation in order to serve others the best we can.

When we do that, Fear is no longer the issue.

I dont like using the ward Failure too…We fall, we stumble, we have challenges. We only fail when we quit on our Dreams and Vision. Lots of trainers and NM say that if you leave a NM company or start something new, you have quit an failed lol!

I am that person that used to take rejection as a personal thing. If truth be told, from some people it still feels like so! Yet now i see it as all to do with that person! Thanks for this post Steve! 🙂

I loved your story about how you were told congratulations for falling down hard! I hadn’t seen it that way. I too have experienced Hugh falls, but now I see that it’s good because that only means I am taking Hugh action!!

Great video! If you aren’t facing your fears, then you aren’t making money. Thank you for sharing. Failing vs Falling! I love it.

What and inspiring post, Steve! Without failures and disappointment, we will never get to experience the fulfillment of getting back up and redeeming ourselves to who we are bound to be!

Great story Steve! I think especially in this profession we all have to realize it’s okay to fail forward. It makes us stronger and better leaders. I sound like I have read a John Maxwell book. ha ha
