Fear of Success ?

Fear of successFear of Success

You may have heard of the fear of failure that stops people from taking action but, have you heard of a fear of success. I have to admit the first time I heard this, I thought it was absurd…Until I had it happen to me.

We can get in our own heads and come up with anything to stop ourselves from taking action. It’s our perception of our future reality will stop us in our tracks. It’s the place where we start questioning the belief in ourselves, it’s the place where our confidence gets put on the chopping block. Overcoming fear of success isn’t quite a difficult as you would think. In the video below, we have a discussion about this. I think you’re going to dig it…heck, it might even put you at ease.

    Hi Steve,
Of course, you’re right, the fear of success is not only just as powerful as the fear of failure, it could be argued that fear of success does *more* damage to our progress, and this is a great reminder!
    cheers, Gordon

There is a fine line between the fear of success and failure. Both can stop you in your tracks if you let it rule your conscious mind.

Most of us are familiar with the stories of famous people who failed many times before achieving repeated successes. Some, even become/became great leaders. Being humble…never forget the struggles you, yourself have gone through.

One thing I’ve struggled with is email marketing. Not in the usual sense of setting up sequences and what-not, but the integrity of the message. For example, when you are an affiliate and a swipe file has a statement something like, “see how I churn out $25,000 easily every month.” Fat chance I would use that line if it isn’t true.

Fortunately, I have a mentor/leader who is pushing me. One of his favorite mantras is be yourself. Be unique. Then he goes on to let you know that some people will be attracted to you like honey in a hive; others will be lukewarm; and, others totally put off.

But the point is to measure your successes in little steps. Don’t make the new day a repeat of the previous one.

Fear of Failure …Now that i had never heard until at ten beginning of this year. This fear comes like a thief in the night! You are doing great and bam…you start to doubt yourself, you doubting your tools, you doubt your actions…and It an be as paralysing as the fear of failure.

I was at a crossroads and I had a conversation with one of my mentors and they told me..look you have the Fear of Success…you have replaced your fear of failure with the opposite. Meditation did it for me, meditation and allowing myself to go with the flow and to POINT my team to the available tools as opposed to being the mum n dad all the time. Great Post Steve. Thanks for sharing.
